Timber floor whitewashing Brisbane
For a fresh, light and on-trend look, whitewashed floors are a great option. You can choose either a crisp white shade for your timber floors or visually to keep it soft, choose an off-white shade. A pale grey colour can also be achieved for a touch of coolness.

What is timber floor whitewashing?
Whitewashing is a less abrasive alternative to the traditional limewashing stains. By applying a water-based polyurethane white stain directly to the timber, whitewashing allows for greater customisation when it comes to colour.
Through experience, we have full control over how the final application turns out – we can create a whitewash shade to perfectly complement your surroundings, whether you prefer a Scandinavian look, beachy feel or a milky modern style.
BEFORE making the final decision to have your timber floors WHITEWASHED, please consider the following:
Maintenance: Whitewashed floors may require more frequent touch-ups or refinishing, especially in high-traffic areas. This is because the more opaque finish of whitewashing can show dirt, scuff marks and scratches more easily.
Additional protection: Protective coatings or sealants might be necessary to maintain the finish.

In conclusion
Both whitewashing and limewashing are great options for giving timber floors a lighter, more rustic appearance. Whitewashing is a better fit for a more modern, uniform and brighter look while limewashing is ideal for those seeking a traditional, natural and eco-friendly finish. The choice between the two ultimately depends on the aesthetic, durability and level of maintenance you are seeking for your timber floors.

Our 6 step timber floor whitewashing PROCESS
STEP 1
Inspection of your timber floors
We begin by inspecting your timber floors and discussing your desired look . This ensures we understand exactly what you are looking for.
STEP 2
Timber floor surface preparation
The first step is to prepare the timber floor. This includes cleaning the surface to remove any dirt, dust, or existing finishes. If the floor has any old paint or varnish, these need to be removed and any imperfections (like scratches or dents) may need to be smoothed out.

STEP 3
Mixing the whitewash
Depending on the required colouring, there are several options for whitewashing including pre-mixed products that are specifically made for the whitewash effect. We are also able to create a custom whitewash mix to control the colour effect.
STEP 4
Timber floor whitewashing application
The whitewash is applied to the timber using a 5mm microfiber roller and brush. It’s typically applied in multiple thin coats, with each layer being allowed to dry before the next coat is applied. The application process is key to ensuring the desired finish and care is taken to achieve even coverage while letting the natural grain of the wood show through.
STEP 5
Curing time of whitewash
Once applied to a timber floor, whitewashing requires time to cure over a 3-coat system with final coat fully curing in 24 hours. Depending on environmental conditions, this can take several days.
STEP 6
Final inspection and clean-up
Once the project is completed, we inspect your timber floor to ensure a flawless finish has been achieved. Your newly whitewashed timber floor will be left looking stunning with a smooth, even tone and long-lasting protection. We then clean and tidy our work area.
